Aquamarine Information

Aquamarine is a semi precious gem from the Beryl Family, the same family as Emerald. It is famous for its sea blue like colours. Aquamarine stones are famous for their excellent clarity and transparency. Its name was derived from the Latin word seawater.Major sources of Aquamarine include Brazil, Madagascar, Russia, Pakistan and the USA. Some of the best stones have a deep blue colour sometimes referred to as Santa Maria blue.Since Aquamarine is part of the Beryl family, it shares the same properties. It has a MOHS of 7.5 - 8 out of a scale of 10. This makes it extremely durable and suitable for all jewelry applications including rings, pendants and earrings.
